Data Security for your IT

The UK does not legislate the destruction of confidential computer data. However, both the Government and British Standards provide guidelines for the removal or eradication of data. Set out in HMG Information Assurance Standard No 5 (Wiping) and BS EN 15713 (2009) (Shredding), the standards offer a rigorous method of maintaining security during the disposal process.

By Adopting both standards, IT-Green® offers a service devoid of any "Data Breaches", allowing clients to dispose of data bearing IT equipment, safe in the knowledge that it will be either wiped or shredded professionally and certified at the end of the destruction process:

  • Destruction of data within 24 hours of collection from your premises.
  • A secure facility, with separate security grilled data wiping laboratory.
  • Shredding of Data bearing media to BS EN 15713 (2009) (including Tapes, solid state media & Optical Disks).

A Proactive Recycling Service

IT-Green® has built a strong relationship with its clients, based upon a prompt, efficient and professional ability to complete contracts. Operating through the Midlands including Birmingham, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton, our comprehensive service aims to offer an all-in-one solution for IT waste and where required by our clients, other electrical and electronic waste. To this end, our service has incorporated:

  • Personnel qualified to manage 'Waste Management facilities'.
  • Uniformed collection personnel.
  • Booking in advance, either online or via the phone.
  • Employee liability, Public Liability, Health & Safety Plans, Environmental Management System (EMS), Environmental Policy.

Ethical & Licensed Service

IT-Green® was originally founded on the belief that UK derived waste electronic equipment should be treated (recycled) ethically in the UK. We stand by this belief today and maintain a service that doesn't export waste. With dwindling resources and increasing costs for raw materials, we ensure:

  • No landfill
  • Re-use of viable equipment in the UK
  • Resource extraction from faulty/ obsolete equipment

IT-Green® maintains a service based upon full waste management licensing at all levels. All works are carried out by in-house employees, negating the need to employ or sub-contract out any part of the contract with our client. We hold:

  • Waste Carrier licence.
  • Waste Management licence (Section 23 Permitted Facility).
  • Scrap Metals licence, beneficial use of waste licence.

Asset Tracking & Reporting

Our experience has taught us that our clients face stringent controls that should be addressed as part of the IT disposal process. These include such issues as:

  • ISO and British Standard Registration and inspection
  • Reporting of Asset Disposal to Investors
  • TAX reporting
  • Data Protection issues

We have developed our service to address many of these issues. Our Consignment notes and Hazardous Waste Transfer notes offer compliance with Environmental Management Systems. Our Asset Disposal reports offer feedback for investors and our data destruction certificates offer a solution to providing evidence of compliance with any Data Protection Policy.
